The Best-Dressed Men on Instagram
March 6th, 2015
As we mentioned yesterday, great personal style takes time, experimentation, and a rock solid sense of self. It can take years, and a lot of misses, to develop a refined sense of style that is all your own. But once you arrive, there is no denying the authenticity of good taste.
Here are 10 people on Instragram that, in my opinion, have developed a world-class style.
Julien Landa is a rancher and leather craftsman living in rural Netherlands. On the low, he’s also one of the premiere collectors of vintage Ralph Lauren. He specifically loves worn-in RRL workwear, which makes perfect sense given his look and lifestyle. His instagram page is like an unpublished Ralph Lauren lookbook spanning the past 20 years.
Mr. Raro is the CEO and designer of the Mararo boutique in Milan. He cuts no corners in the production of his handmade bespoke garments, which he wears proudly throughout the streets of Milan. His look is full-on, old world elegance. I would call it European Royalty inspired tailoring, with the heavily roped shoulders, saturated colors, pocket watches, and all that.
Our friend JS Vann, aka Dirty Sox, aka Mr. Couture Streetwear, aka The Colorful Suit Man, is the coolest young tailor in Toronto. He recently opened a downtown design studio, where he cuts everything from custom suits to custom quilted joggers. His ability to blend hood-inspired streetwear with classic tailored menswear is always tastefully entertaining.
There isn’t a woman on earth who wears menswear better than Rake Magazine editor Sarah Ann Murray. She makes classic menswear look sexier than ever because she’s well-versed in bespoke tailoring and isn’t afraid to push the envelope with things like colors, patterns and accessories.
Our friend Khaled Nasr (as featured here and here) is a self-made man, an engineer, a serial entrepreneur, and an all-around boss. He doesn’t work in menswear, but he makes so many trips to Naples to buy perfectly cut soft-shouldered jackets from his favorite tailors at Sciamat, that he’s become known in the business as a purveyor of fine tailoring.
Fabio is an Italian menswear blogger who’s tagline is “fostering the rebirth of a sartorial classicism in menswear”. He’s does a good job showcasing high-end bespoke tailoring in a light-hearted tone and, like any menswear blogger, he loves showing off his thoughtfully curated outfit photos.
Our friend Jason Andrew, the best-dressed speech pathologist in New York City, is one smooth cat. He doesn’t work in the menswear business either, but loves clothes and uses personal style to his advantage in his medical career. His instagram account can be used as a how-to guide for layering.
Alessandro Squarzi owns a prominent showroom in Milan and represents some premiere brands throughout Europe and America. His job is to curate what’s cool in the market and stand behind products that he believes in. His less-is-more approach to style should be used as an example for anyone looking to refine their look.
Angel, aka Mr. Sprezzy, is a good friend of mine and a style icon in his own right. The fellow “Best Dressed Man in America” turned his notoriety into a successful custom clothing business based around his signature American-meets-Italian aesthetic.
Truthfully, I don’t even know who this guy is, because he doesn’t show his face on his instagram. What he does show, however, is an impressively large closet and an absolute mastery when it comes to pattern-mixing and color combos. His jacket/shirt/tie/pocket square combinations are top notch.
Did I miss anyone? Who are your favorite instagram style icons?
Thanks, as always, for reading.
Yours in style,
